Microsoft is going to launch a new business tool named Looking Glass which should help business to listen, participate and analyze social media more efficient!
It will be made available only for a small group to test drive it. Its conception is some kind of social-media aggregator and monitoring tool.
The idea is to connect social-media-monitoring tools to the rest of a marketer’s organization it is planned to pull in a variety of feeds from platforms such as:
Facebook
Twitter
YouTube
Flickr … and to work with third-party data sources also!
The data which are collected during this process will connect into Microsoft’s enterprise platforms like as Outlook and SharePoint.
How can such a tool like Looking Glass benefit your business?
A. By monitoring social communities, you are able to better understand where the conversations are taking place, by whom and the topics being discussed.
B. You can learn more about your customers! What they need, want, the issues they have and the frustrations they suffer. You can integrate these results in your marketing strategy. Simply, STOP guessing!

Before a couple of days I’ve read a blog post in Click Forensics blog about a ‘Bahama’ botnet linked to click-fraud surge.
This remembered me on the movie about pirates in the Caribbean see. These guys look like the same for me. I hope they know what happen to the most pirates! They have been arrested, condemned and hanged!
“A botnet is a cluster of hijacked computers. These botnet’s can not only drive traffic to a website, some of them are programmed to click the ads as well!”
This brought me to think about of the possible future or end of PPC and CPM based advertising.
When anybody can direct traffic though a botnet, which is also able to click on ads, so what’s your advertising worth? Maybe nothing!
The most people who advertise, lets say in Google AdWords they do this to promote their business. But when you promote your business and want to generate
leads for example there are these criminals who steal your money by pretending qualified clicks.
It’s interesting to see what people do for money. They steal, they lie and they cheat!
These poor idiots still did not realize that they will not keep this money and they will die poor, maybe in prison!
I think in the near future more of such botnet’s will appear from jurisdictions offshore who even have no laws against this criminal activity and it’s time to think about new ways to advertise, without the risk to be ripped off.
A good way can be to advertise for flat fees, or sponsored reviews and social media marketing where no scammer can hide a long time.

If you decided to make a little bit more money out of your blogging work and want to run ads and write paid reviews on your blog, one thousand (1000) page views per day would be a good entry level.
This depends also from the earning model, if you make cash with PPC (pay per click) or with CPM (cost per thousand). Do you prefer to earn money trough paid reviews and flat fee Text Link and Banner Ads?
You should have a blog setup with written content on your URL with a minimum of one hundred (100) published articles.
To market your blog the best way, make it Sexy for advertisers, a Google Page Rank of minimum of one (PR 1) and growing Alexa Rank are helpful as well.
Some ad networks, specially the networks that serve high revenue premium ads, require a high level of blog traffic before they will even consider accepting your blog in their network. For the smaller ad networks, such as Google Adsense or AdBrite, the entry level is low.
How can this money making look like now?
Let’s say you register within an ad network and decide to incorporate all of the above advertising options and you have 1000 page views per day, Google PR of 1 or better, a good and growing Alexa rank and daily updated blog posts with fresh and unique content.
PPC – Pay per Click
The average click ratio for PPC is about %0,10 – %0,33 means 1 – 3,3 clicks per day. The click price depends on the topic you serve. But here lets say $0,50 per click. This results in $0,50 – $ 1,65 per day, up to $49.50 per month.
CPM – Cost per Thousand
With CPM you can have similar results like the above mentioned PPC example.
Remember, great networks, like Google have nothing to give away! You have better chances to get a more fair share on smaller ad networks.
When you now take a look at the options to make cash out of your blog, than paid reviews and flat fee Text Link and Banner Ads come into your focus.
With 1000 page views per day, a Google PR of 1, a good and growing Alexa rank and a daily updated blog posts with fresh and unique content.
Than you can ask for minimum of $15 per paid review of 200 words. You can ask for $15 for Text Link and Banner Ads per month.
Let’s calculate a little bit and let’s say you get four (4) paid review jobs per month, $15 each. Let’s say further you are able to put six (6) Text Links and Banner Ads on your blog for $15 each, not to much and not to less.
What do we have made here in one month?
4 Paid reviews $10 each = $60
6 Text Links and Banner Ads = $90
Sub TOTAL $150
Deduct 50% for the Ad Network $75
Your earnings TOTAL $75
When you now compare this with the PPC and CPM earnings, than this last ’spezialized blog ad network’ model has the potential to bring you up to %34 more in than the first one.

The most successful bloggers out there recommend to start with the beginning of your blogging career.
In the beginning of your blogging career it is natural that you will not have a bunch of advertisers who wait to get one of your free ad spots. Therefore you should consider to step into ‘Affiliate Marketing’.
“Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. It is an application of crowd sourcing.”
You can find affiliate programs at:
– Affiliate program directories like for example Affiliateseeking.com and Associateprograms.com. There are more, simply do a Google search.
- Affiliate networks that provide the platform for dozens or even hundreds of advertisers, like LinkShare and Google.
- The website itself can be good source. Websites that offer an affiliate program often have a link titled “Affiliate Program” like Amazon and Ebay have affiliate programs as well.
You can start with the above to make some cash out of your work, maybe in the first time to pay your blog host and your domain.
Later when you reach a significant amount of visitors daily and your Alexa rank gets under 100k than your blog will become more interesting for potential advertisers and you will get requests for advertising on your blog.
A good way to make some cash also is to write for other bloggers or to write paid reviews.
As a beginner you can charge $5 for 200 words. This sum can go up also with your and your blogs growing popularity, than you will be able to charge $50 for 200 words or much more.
But this takes time and persistence from your side. Go one step behind another and have fun!
