5 Killing Social Networks Advantages For Your Business

Razorfish has released interesting data based on a survey of 1,000 consumers in the US, half male and half female of 10 major cities about their online behaviour. A good deal has to do with social media and brand interaction.

Razorfish explained: “Our goal was to survey what we call “connected consumers. Connected consumers have broadband access and have spent at least $150 online in the past six months, they have visited a “community site” (MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Yelp, etc.), and have consumed or created some form of digital media like photos, videos, music, or news.”

“Based on previous Razorfish consumer research, we have found that these ‘connected consumers’ roughly mirror the U.S. population with broadband access. According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, about 63% of all Americans today have a high-speed Internet connection, up from only 55% in 2008. This translates to roughly 200 million people, based on a July 2009 population estimate from the CIA World Factbook (total population 307,212,123, July 2009 estimate).”

You can find more results of the consumer research here.

It was important for me to focus more on the results which belong more too social media and their use. Razorfish gave a good inside scoop on what the consumer is searching online from brands within social networks. This is just scratched a little on the surface, and can go much deeper.

5 Great advantages for your business:

Advantage One: An important point to be mentioned here is that users from Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter are mostly interested in exclusive deals and/ or offers you have to give them. This behaviour will likely increase in the future as deals get more personalized as well. You need to stay in front of this trend and act quickly to get your piece of the pie!

Advantage Two: Connect your business sites with existing networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc. (Facebook Connect and similar services), and in the future, people may be able to log-in to your corporate sites with their Facebook account or an other one, which can bring up their profile information for companies to serve personalized content and personalized deals as well.

Advantage Three: Consumers are clearly more interested and willing to interact with your brand and business through social media. This will increase true as social networks themselves gain more users.

Advantage Four: It’s not only about pushing your offers out there and hoping people bite. People are becoming friends and fans of your brand and hoping you give them special offers.

Advantage Five: Create new marketing opportunities for your business. Interesting and powerful new marketing opportunities are going to continue to present themselves moving forward as networks get more advanced and more brands figure out new ways to use them.
