Like many teens out there, I am one of them who (thinks at least that he) needs more money. Everyone wants money for their own reasons (I want to buy a new car) and goes about earning it different ways.
Unfortunately in this day and age, especially with the economy the way that it is, getting a job is extremely difficult. And face it, what teen actually wants to work?? After much research and trials of multiple ways to make money, I found Blogging.
My actual blog http://teencollegeeducation.blogspot.com/ deals with high school life/stress (no not mine personally) and, as the name implies, teen college education. I got a great template somewhere and come up with the articles myself based on experience, news, surveys, and a few other factors.
I have not been working on my blog for too long, but I am already seeing some money coming in from advertising. Some being the key word. Unfortunately, money does not just flood in as some people claim that it does, but you need to work for it.
The great thing about my blog, or any blog in fact, is that you can work on it when you have the time and do other things when you don’t. Blogging is not that time demanding, which is one of the things that makes it a great way for teens to earn a little extra money. Just as an example, I had finals all of this week, so I was not able to post anything on my blog for a while, but when I am on vacation I can post something almost every day.
Another great thing about blogging for teens is that writing an actual article does not take much time. I wrote this article in about an hour, which is simply one hour less that I would have spent on Facebook. A new study just came out a few days ago that said that teens spend more than 7 hours online every single day.
In order to blog, all a teen needs to do is spend one of those hours, at least once a week, writing articles or improving the blog itself.
My posts stay online and receive visitors every day, even when I do not have the time to write new ones.
So how does a teen make money from blogging? – Advertising. I currently have a few PPC (pay per click) ads and one referral ad. PPC, or pay per click ads, basically pay you every time that someone clicks on it. The more people that click on the ad, the more money that you get. It is that simple.
You do not need to sell anything or market anything, just put an advertisement somewhere on your web page where people can see and click it. Referals are a bit more complicated and pay you whenever someone uses your referral link to sign up for something.
I am not too sure yet of how I like referrals, but I will make sure to write about it once I have more experience with it.
Does advertising work for your web page? Well, I have a blog about education, and somehow, Google Adsense gets ads that are relevant to my articles. Some of the ads are repeats, but for the most part they advertise books, classes, or colleges. Adsense really is an amazing thing and can make the ads look like part of your blog.
So if you are a teen, or anyone for that matter who wants to make some extra money, create a blog and put ads on it.
Just write about something that people will like to read and they will come, eventually.
Good Luck!
-Andy

Changes Affect Testimonial Advertisements, Bloggers, Celebrity Endorsements

The Federal Trade Commission today announced that it has approved final revisions to the guidance it gives to advertisers on how to keep their endorsement and testimonial ads in line with the FTC Act.
The notice incorporates several changes to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers. The Guides were last updated in 1980.
Under the revised Guides, advertisements that feature a consumer and convey his or her experience with a product or service as typical when that is not the case will be required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect. In contrast to the 1980 version of the Guides – which allowed advertisers to describe unusual results in a testimonial as long as they included a disclaimer such as “results not typical” – the revised Guides no longer contain this safe harbor. Read the full release here.
