Like many teens out there, I am one of them who (thinks at least that he) needs more money. Everyone wants money for their own reasons (I want to buy a new car) and goes about earning it different ways.
Unfortunately in this day and age, especially with the economy the way that it is, getting a job is extremely difficult. And face it, what teen actually wants to work?? After much research and trials of multiple ways to make money, I found Blogging.
My actual blog http://teencollegeeducation.blogspot.com/ deals with high school life/stress (no not mine personally) and, as the name implies, teen college education. I got a great template somewhere and come up with the articles myself based on experience, news, surveys, and a few other factors.
I have not been working on my blog for too long, but I am already seeing some money coming in from advertising. Some being the key word. Unfortunately, money does not just flood in as some people claim that it does, but you need to work for it.
The great thing about my blog, or any blog in fact, is that you can work on it when you have the time and do other things when you don’t. Blogging is not that time demanding, which is one of the things that makes it a great way for teens to earn a little extra money. Just as an example, I had finals all of this week, so I was not able to post anything on my blog for a while, but when I am on vacation I can post something almost every day.
Another great thing about blogging for teens is that writing an actual article does not take much time. I wrote this article in about an hour, which is simply one hour less that I would have spent on Facebook. A new study just came out a few days ago that said that teens spend more than 7 hours online every single day.
In order to blog, all a teen needs to do is spend one of those hours, at least once a week, writing articles or improving the blog itself.
My posts stay online and receive visitors every day, even when I do not have the time to write new ones.
So how does a teen make money from blogging? – Advertising. I currently have a few PPC (pay per click) ads and one referral ad. PPC, or pay per click ads, basically pay you every time that someone clicks on it. The more people that click on the ad, the more money that you get. It is that simple.
You do not need to sell anything or market anything, just put an advertisement somewhere on your web page where people can see and click it. Referals are a bit more complicated and pay you whenever someone uses your referral link to sign up for something.
I am not too sure yet of how I like referrals, but I will make sure to write about it once I have more experience with it.
Does advertising work for your web page? Well, I have a blog about education, and somehow, Google Adsense gets ads that are relevant to my articles. Some of the ads are repeats, but for the most part they advertise books, classes, or colleges. Adsense really is an amazing thing and can make the ads look like part of your blog.
So if you are a teen, or anyone for that matter who wants to make some extra money, create a blog and put ads on it.
Just write about something that people will like to read and they will come, eventually.
Good Luck!
-Andy

The online advertising industry has grown phenomenally during the past few years. Companies both big and small have come to realize that a huge segment of their market has migrated online – now, more than anything else, they want in on the action. This is why even with the global economic slump, the business outlook of the online advertising industry remains optimistic.
The industry anticipates an increase in revenue as traditional companies consider online advertising as a viable and sustainable means of reaching their customers. Not only will these companies be able to connect with their market directly (due to targeted ads), the cost of putting up an ad online is considerably cheaper than buying ad space on print, television, or radio.
This is where blog advertising networks comes in. These networks are in the best position to help both bloggers and advertisers get what they need out of the Internet – bloggers want to monetize their site while advertisers want to reach out to their market base. Blog ad networks bridge the gap between the two by aggregating blogs that possess quality content and relevance to the advertisers’ target consumer. They serve as the contact point between the two, allowing both of them to profit from the exchange.

How Blog Ad Networks Bridge The Gap

Basically, there are several ways of advertising on blogs, but we have to recognize that the first demography and statistics are very different from the traditional media and advertising.
Even a popular blog can have 50,000 readers, can be too small for many of the demographic characteristics of traditional advertising. However, blogs and podcasts and audio, shall be large in order to reach very specific target groups, namely the slot.
To find niche blogs it makes sense to search trhrough blog related search engines like Technorati.com and Google Blog Search.
Want to reach for bikers to hardcore, female marketing professionals, or interest in French-speaking backpacker in South Asia? These and virtually all other segments are accessible through blogs. The audience can be very small but they are very specific and passionate.
One proven method is to give the bloggers free copies of what you want to promote. So they have the opportunity to test drive it and to give their hones opinion!
Paid Advertising, which is divided into two categories:
a) Verification of payment. Some bloggers check your product for a price. In general, you have little control over what they say, but you can comment on it and start a discussion, which is good promotion as well. Thes investment for such promo can be $ 5 to $ 500 or more.
Another very effective method is the approach of individual bloggers directly into the niches and offer them appropriate jump a few dollars for a magazine – a surprising number of bloggers are ready to take this offers.
b) The traditional paid advertising. Business can do this with banner and text ads through a network of niche realted blogs. It is also possible to contact the bloggers personally to offer an advertising deal.
Blog advertising is different from traditional advertising, but it works very good!
