TradOnline1 Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline BlogMathieu Marechal  is based in Paris and he is the founder and CEO of the translation company, Trad Online (www.tradonline.fr), which has offices in Paris, Bologna and Barcelona.

He is blogging in French and English about online networking, entrepreneurship and the translation industry.

The BlogAdMonkey: Tell me a little bit about your self, your background, where are you from, what are you doing for living, etc.

TradOnline Blog: My name is Mathieu Marechal, I’m French and 31 years old. I’ve lived in Brussels when I was a kid and in the US as a teenager for 3 years, which is where I picked up my more or less fluent English level.
I’m currently CEO of my own translation company, Trad Online (www.tradonline.fr), which has offices in Paris, Bologna (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). We’re actually running independent offices/websites for each country (www.tradonline.es and www.tradonline-italia.it), a lot of fun, I enjoy my job a lot. icon smile Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline Blog

The BlogAdMonkey: What was your reason to start blogging?

TradOnline Blog: Basically, I started blogging to give my company’s news out to the world and give us a new opportunity at exchanging with the outside world. And since then we’ve been several (with for example one of my associate partners) at Trad Online blogging about our industry in general, the company and its latest developments but also more specific interests, such as Web 2.0, partnerships, networking sites, etc.

It was also in our mind right from the start that blogging would enable to reach out to new people and interact with them, and so far that’s happened and I’m very pleased about it.

The BlogAdMonkey: How long do you blog?

TradOnline Blog: I’ve been blogging for about 2 years (www.tradonline.fr/blog/), and I try to post at least every few days, but sometimes, and many bloggers surely experience the same issue, things get so hectic with work that I have to postpone the posting of new articles.

The BlogAdMonkey: What are the topics you blog about?

TradOnline Blog: Business in general, the translation industry, online networking platforms (like linkedin, Viadeo, Xing, plaxo, etc), Web 2.0 startups + a little bit of miscellaneous icon smile Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline Blog

The BlogAdMonkey: Which blogging platform do you use?

TradOnline Blog: WordPress icon smile Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline Blog So far, we’re pretty happy with it!

The BlogAdMonkey: How do you promote your blog?

TradOnline Blog: Well first of all, I try to keep the content worth reading, so I don’t post if I don’t have something of a least minimal interest to say, which I feel is in a way a first step to auto-promoting a blog.

Other than that our blog has been submitted to major search engines and to blog-specific directories, we also communicate about its existence on the numerous networking sites that I and my team are on, we also include it in some of email signatures, etc. We don’t have any SEM activity though to drive traffic to the blog (not yet! Maybe soon).

The BlogAdMonkey: What is the post on your blog that has had the most traffic in the last 12 months?

TradOnline Blog: It was a post about a new French law, http://www.tradonline.fr/blog/?p=184 which was read about 500 times, it was a big news item for a few weeks and I think we gained from the article being written are the right time and offering further info to the ongoing debate.

The BlogAdMonkey: Where did the traffic mainly come from?

TradOnline Blog: Surprisingly not only from France, although this was a very “French oriented” post. We have traffic from a little bit everywhere in the world, although mainly from France and neighboring countries where our presence and visibility are the strongest.

The BlogAdMonkey: Did you do anything extra to market or promote this post or did it just happen organically?

TradOnline Blog: All of traffic is organic, we haven’t yet launched any post-specific communication except as a relay to press releases etc. So our 500 visitors for this post came thru Google and other search engines icon smile Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline Blog

The BlogAdMonkey: What can we as bloggers learn from the success of this post?

TradOnline Blog: Give regular interesting content and your blog will be visible in search engines when people look for content related to what you’re saying on your blog icon smile Top Translation Company Interview TradOnline Blog
